2023 NFL Draft: Bets to Make on NFC West Teams

NFL Draft Betting NFC West

Below, you’ll find our thoughts on what each NFC West team will do in the 2023 NFL Draft with their first pick. All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook, and Josh Larky and Ryan Reynolds will provide context for each of the positional favorites. Anytime Josh and Ryan like/dislike current betting odds, they’ll note it clearly. If no betting commentary is provided, assume it is a fair line.

Teams are ordered by odds of winning the division. All betting odds will also feature implied percentage odds for context. A -250 line implies a 71.4 percent chance of this bet hitting, so if we take a -250 line, we think this outcome will happen more often than 71.4 percent of the time.

NFC West Bets

  San Francisco 49ers: Pick 99

Chance to Win Division:  -140 (58.3%)

  Seattle Seahawks: Pick 5

Chance to Win Division: +250 (28.76%)

DL/ Edge (-250, 71.4%)

  • As Seattle Seahawks backers, we’d be ecstatic if Tim Anderson or Jalen Carter (scouting report) landed in Seattle.
  • This is a situation where an available blue-chip talent could meet a team's need.
  • The Seahawks were 19th in quarterback pressure rate (32.3%) last year, according to The Edge.
  • The Seahawks gave up the ninth most yards per carry to opposing RBs (4.7), via The Edge.

QB (+275, 26.7%)

  • The Seahawks have an out in Geno Smith’s contract after the 2023 season.
  • If a quarterback is available that the Seahawks like, they should probably select them, regardless of any defender that may be available.
  • Selecting a rookie quarterback would be a negative for our Seahawks futures plays.
  • If Seattle doesn’t want to draft a quarterback, and at least one of the big-4 quarterbacks is still on the board at pick No. 5, there’s a real chance they trade back.

CB (+600), 14.3%)

  • The Seahawks have a bigger need for a disruptive pass rusher, but they’d have to at least consider Christian Gonzalez (scouting report) or Devon Witherspoon (scouting report).

OL (+1500, 6.3%)

  • Seattle had a fantastic draft in 2022, which included picking both of their starting offensive tackles.
  • Even if Seattle traded back from the fifth pick, it would be a surprise if they selected an offensive lineman with their first pick.

  Los Angeles Rams: Pick 36

Chance to Win Division: +475 (17.4%)

  Arizona Cardinals: Pick 3

Chance to Win Division: +2000 (4.8%)

DL/ Edge (-175, 63.6%)

  • The Arizona Cardinals are in position to trade back in the draft, especially if the Houston Texans pass on taking a quarterback with the second-overall pick
  • In that scenario, the chances of the Cardinals selecting a defensive linemen with their first pick will be somewhat reduced
  • If the Texans select a quarterback with the second pick, there's a good chance Arizona selects their favorite pass rusher

CB (+155, 39.2%)

  • We can’t rule out the Cardinals taking Gonzalez or Witherspoon with the third overall pick, as Arizona has a glaring need at cornerback
  • If the Raiders traded up to the third overall pick, the chances of the Cardinals taking a cornerback with the seventh overall pick would increase

OL (+600, 14.3%)

  • If the Cardinals trade back with the Titans or Commanders, the chances of them using their first pick on an offensive linemen will shoot way up
  • This scenario is something we’ve been specifically keeping our eye on for weeks
  • If Arizona makes a selection with the third overall pick, it would be a surprise if it was used on an offensive linemen
