JETS BENCH ZACH WILSON FOR TIM BOYLE

The New York Jets are benching quarterback Zach Wilson and will start Tim Boyle on Friday against the Miami Dolphins in the NFL's first-ever Black Friday game.

Wilson was benched during Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills after the Jets fell behind 29-6.

Jets coach Robert Saleh has been steadfast in his support of Wilson since Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles four snaps into the regular season. Wilson has completed 59.2 percent of his passes for 1,944 yards with six touchdowns and seven interceptions. The team is 3-6 in games he has started.

The Jets went 41 consecutive offensive possessions without a touchdown before a Breece Hall score Sunday.

Rodgers has left the door open for a miraculous late-season return, but it will be a moot point if the Jets can't string together some wins.

Falcons going back to desmond ridder at qb

The Atlanta Falcons are going back to Desmond Ridder as their starting quarterback after he was benched for two weeks in favor of veteran Taylor Heinicke.

Ridder started the first eight games of the regular season for the Atlanta Falcons, completing 65.4 percent of his passes for 1,740 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions. The team went 4-4 in games he started.

The Falcons take on the New Orleans Saints this week, and an Atlanta win would put the team in first place in the NFC South.

Coach Arthur Smith said the plan is for Ridder to remain the starter moving forward.

steelers sign myles jack

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran linebacker Myles Jack to their practice squad.

Jack spent the past two seasons with the Steelers and had 104 tackles in 15 games last year. He was with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year in training camp and then abruptly announced that he was retiring from the NFL after just two weeks with the team.

In recent weeks, Pittsburgh had two linebackers suffer season-ending injuries: Cole Holcomb (knee) and Kwon Alexander (Achilles).
