Kansas City Chiefs

That's right. The Kansas City Chiefs will appear in their fourth Super Bowl in the past five seasons. The defending champs will defend their crown after an inconsistent season, especially on offense, finishing just 14th in points per game.

However, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce turned it on in the postseason. In three playoff games, Mahomes completed 62.5 percent of his passes for three touchdowns and no turnovers. Kelce added 12 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns, including 116 yards in a 17-10 AFC Championship victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Chiefs' offense didn't do it alone, as the team's defense stepped up in a big way. They held likely MVP Lamar Jackson to just 10 points and only allowed Baltimore to convert three of 11 third-down attempts.

Just four years ago, the Chiefs defeated their upcoming opponent, the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV.

San Francisco 49ers

Coach Kyle Shanahan will have the chance to exorcise his Super Bowl demons after leading the San Francisco 49ers to a 34-31 victory against the Detroit Lions. The 49ers rallied from a 24-7 halftime deficit and lived up to their top seed in the NFC. They followed a 12-5 season with two impressive, comeback playoff wins.

Brock Purdy, the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, will make his first Super Bowl start. Purdy finished the season with 4,280 passing yards and 31 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions. His 113.0 quarterback rating and 9.6 yards per attempt led the NFL.

If the 49ers can defeat the Chiefs, San Francisco will add the franchise's sixth Lombardi Trophy, and their first since 1994.
