Old Faces, New Places: How Recently Traded NFL Players Performed in Week 9

There was an NFL-record 10 trades completed on the final day of the NFL's trade deadline last week. That brought the grand total to 19 made during the NFL's trade-deadline window. It was a mixed bag of performances but some of those players made an early impact with their new teams on Sunday.

Here's a breakdown of how some of them performed:

T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings sent a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick to the Detroit Lions for Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick and a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick. Kirk Cousins targeted Hockenson nine times (second only to wide receiver Justin Jefferson's 13), and caught all nine for 70 yards.

The Vikings are now 1-0 with Hockenson in the fold as they completed a 20-17 comeback victory against the Washington Commanders.

Jeff Wilson, Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins traded a fifth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for Wilson after trading away running back Chase Edmonds in the Bradley Chubb trade. Wilson made an immediate impact for the Dolphins as he led the team in rushing yards and was tied for first in carries.

He finished with nine carries, 51 yards and one receiving touchdown.

Bradley Chubb, Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins sent the Broncos a package that included Chase Edmonds, a 2023 first-round pick (acquired from the San Francisco 49ers) and a 2024 fourth-round pick in exchange for Chubb. The young pass rusher only played 37 snaps on Sunday and had one assisted tackle against the Bears, according to Trumedia.

 

James Robinson, New York Jets

The Jets sent a conditional sixth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for Robinson on Oct. 24, which was just one day after Breece Hall tore his ACL. Robinson didn't factor into the team's loss against the Patriots in Week 8 much, but he finished with 13 carries for 48 yards and one receiving touchdown.

Robinson's touchdown helped the Jets take a 17-14 in their 20-17 upset victory against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

 

Chase Claypool, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears traded a second-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Claypool. The former Notre Dame wide receiver finished with two catches for 13 yards.

Although it wasn't much in terms of production, the Bears' offense finished the day with 32 points in their 35-32 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. That is the second-highest point total of the season for the Bears, which could be a sign of things to come when Claypool gets further acclimated into their offense.
