Packers' Offensive Struggles Continue in Home Loss to Jets

The New York Jets upset the Green Bay Packers, 27-10, at Lambeau Field on Sunday, marking the third straight victory for the Jets (4-2), who moved into sole possession of second place in the AFC East.

A second straight defeat leaves the Packers (3-3) two games behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North and wondering what to make of their struggling offense.

The Packers had problems getting into a rhythm offensively again this week. Aaron Rodgers, who was sacked four times, threw for 246 yards and just one touchdown. Making matters worse, he lost Randall Cobb, his leading receiver, to a high ankle sprain in the second half.

"It’s really hard to understand what is going on in Green Bay," said analyst Joe Banner of The 33rd Team. "Their wide receivers are not as strong as they need to be, but with all the investment in their defense and Aaron Rodgers still playing at a high level, there’s no way to explain how they lost at home to — albeit, an improved — Jets team with significant weaknesses."

The Jets relied on their defense and special teams in Sunday's game. The defense finished with five tackles for loss, five passes defensed and forced two fumbles. New York's special teams blocked one punt and returned it for a touchdown while also blocking a field goal.

"The blocked punt was a huge turning point in that game," said analyst Mike Tannenbaum of The 33rd Team. "It shifted the game's momentum."

Jets rookie running back Breece Hall led the way on offense. He finished with 116 yards rushing on 20 carries, including a 34-yard touchdown run that put the Jets ahead by two scores early in the fourth quarter.

"You have to acknowledge what they’ve achieved through six weeks," Banner said of the Jets. "Dominating Green Bay on the road and two big comeback wins cannot be overlooked."

The Jets can extend their winning streak to four against the Denver Broncos next week. The Packers will try to snap their two-game losing streak against the Washington Commanders.
