Russell Wilson's Ailing Shoulder Getting 'Better Every Day'

After a disappointing 2-3 start to the season, Russell Wilson flew to Los Angeles to receive treatment on some reported discomfort in his right shoulder, per NFL Media. Since then, Wilson says his shoulder is improving and expects to be on track to start on Monday Night against the Los Angeles Chargers.

"Shoulder's feeling better, getting better every day," Wilson told the media today before practice, per ESPN. " ... I haven't had this particular thing before, but I'll be OK. I'll be ready."

Dak Prescott Progressing, Listed as 'Limited' Participant at Practice

For the first time since suffering a thumb injury in Week 1 during a 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott participated in practice on Thursday, per NFL Media. Approximately one month after his thumb injury, Prescott's progress signifies that he is on track to be back in the starting lineup in the near future.

Jonathan Taylor Full Participant in Practice, Could Play Sunday

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was a full participant in practice Thursday a good sign for his chances of playing Sunday, according to NFL Media. Taylor missed practice Wednesday after sitting out the team's Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos with an ankle injury. The Colts will take on the Titans in Week 6 and a healthy Jonathan Taylor would be an enormous boon to their chances.

Commanders CB William Jackson III at Center of Trade Talks

The Washington Commanders are reportedly shopping high-paid defensive back William Jackson III as Jackson has requested a change, according to NFL Media. Jackson signed a lucrative free-agent deal with the team in March 2021, but reports indicate the former Cincinnati Bengal feels the team's scheme is not a proper fit.

With the NFL trade deadline still a few weeks away, the Commanders should have time to find a reasonable suitor for Jackson. The former 2016 first-round pick did not make the trip to Chicago with the team ahead of their Thursday night matchup with the Bears.

Carson Wentz Will Start Thursday Night vs. Bears

Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz will start in the team's Thursday night matchup with the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Media. Wentz has been dealing with a biceps tendon strain he suffered in a Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The Commanders have gotten off to a rough start to the season, currently sitting at 1-4, good for last place in the NFC East. The struggles have been compounded by the stellar play of their division rivals, with the New York Giants (4-1), Philadelphia Eagles (5-0), and Dallas Cowboys (4-1) among the league's most successful teams to start the season.

Earlier in the week coach, Commanders coach Ron Rivera was asked by reporters for some explanation as to why his team was struggling compared to the rest of the division.

"Quarterback," Rivera responded.

Wentz will have an opportunity to quiet some of the noise this week if he can pull out a win against the Bears. Chicago is coming off two straight losses and is dealing with quarterback issues of their own.

Teddy Bridgewater Will Practice in Limited Capacity

Miami Dolphins quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will practice Thursday on a limited, non-contact basis, according to NFL Media. Bridgewater is in the NFL's concussion protocol as he works his way back from a hit that sidelined him early in last week's loss to the New York Jets. Bridgewater was starting that game in place of injured QB Tua Tagovailoa, who is working his way back from a concussion. The Dolphins will take on the Vikings in Week 6 with third-string QB Skylar Thompson under center. Bridgewater won't start the gam, but could be instilled as the primary backup if he is medically cleared in time.

Adams Charged After Pushing Cameraman

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has been charged with misdemeanor assault for pushing a cameraman following the team's game on Monday night, ESPN reported. The NFL is reviewing the incident to determine whether the league will discipline him.

The cameraman reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries but filed a police report to the Kansas City Police Department on Tuesday morning.

Adams apologized for the incident on Twitter after the game writing: "Sorry to the guy I pushed over after the game. Obviously, very frustrated at the way the game ended, and when he ran in front of me as I exited that was my reaction, and I felt horrible immediately. That's not me...MY APOLOGIES man hope you see this."

Rush to Make Fifth Straight Start

Cooper Rush is preparing to start against the Philadelphia Eagles this week, not Dak Prescott, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy told reporters on Wednesday.

There was optimism Prescott, who fractured his thumb in Dallas' Week 1 game against Tampa Bay, would've returned last week against the Rams. However, he was unable to properly grip a football, forcing him to sit out.

Rush is 4-0 as the Cowboys starter since taking over for Prescott and 5-0 for his career. Sunday night's game against the Eagles will decide which team takes first place in the NFC East.

Rams' Donald, Kupp Miss Practice

Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp did not participate in practice Wednesday, according to the team. Both players are currently dealing with foot injuries and their status for Sunday's game against the Panthers is unknown. The Rams have gotten off to a slow start to the season currently sitting at 2-3 and will certainly need a healthy and effective Aaron Donald, and Cooper Kupp, to turn things around.

Dolphins Expecting to Start Thompson Against Vikings

The Miami Dolphins are expecting to start rookie seventh-round pick Skylar Thompson at quarterback against the Vikings, said Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel during a Wednesday morning press conference.

This comes after the report saying Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) was unlikely to play but would return to practice on Wednesday and begin throwing for the first time since he entered the concussion protocol on Sept. 29 after being stretchered off the field and taken to a local hospital following a hit.

To play on Sunday, Tagovailoa would need to clear concussion protocols this week. McDaniel said there was a chance of that happening, but he didn't want Tagovailoa to be rushed back after missing two weeks.

McDaniel also said he expects Teddy Bridgewater, who entered the concussion protocol after just one play of the team's Week 5 game, to serve as Thompson's backup.

Hill Expected to Play Against Vikings

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is expected to play against the Minnesota Vikings this week despite leaving last week's game against the Jets in a walking boot, ESPN reported.

Hill left Miami's Week 5 game in the fourth quarter and never returned to action. He leads the Dolphins in yards receiving with 524, which also ranks third in the NFL.

Giants Punter Returns From London

Giants punter Jamie Gillian is flying back from London to rejoin his team on Wednesday afternoon, NFL Media reported. Gillan was stuck in London following the Giants' win against the Packers on Sunday because of an issue with his visa.

NFL Network reported Gillan, nicknamed the "Scottish Hammer" and a native of Inverness, Scotland, came to the U.S. as a teenager on a NATO visa with this father. That paperwork was never converted to a work visa when he was drafted into the NFL four years ago.

After trade, Browns LB Jones Off IR

New Browns linebacker Deion Jones is officially off injured reserve after being traded from the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, the team announced. Jones had been recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

The Browns acquired Jones for late-round draft considerations. The team lost Anthony Walker Jr. to a season-ending injury early this season, so Jones could fill a large gap in the defense.

"This is a win for both teams," said T.J. McCreight, former NFL player personnel director for the Eagles and current analyst for The 33rd Team. "The Falcons get a pick,  which is what they were looking for, and the Browns get insurance at the position."

Players of the Week Announced

The NFL announced the AFC and NFC Players of the Week on Wednesday morning. In the NFC, Saints TE Taysom Hill won Offensive Player of the Week, Cowboys edge Micah Parsons won Defensive Player of the Week and Eagles' kicker Cameron Dicker won Special Teams Player of the Week.

In the AFC, Bills QB Josh Allen won the Offensive Player of the Week, Patriots edge Matthew Judon won Defensive Player of the Week and Colts kicker Chase McLaughlin won Special Teams Player of the Week.
