Sanders Confirms Colorado Report
NFL Hall of Famer and Jackson State coach Deion Sanders was offered the head coaching job at Colorado, Sanders told reporters at the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship media day where his team is competing in the championship game against Southern.
Sanders led Jackson State to two straight 11-win seasons while Colorado finished the 2022 season 1-11. The Buffs fired Karl Dorrell after an 0–5 start and went 1–6 under interim coach Mike Sanford Jr.
Sanders also confirmed other schools had reached out to him but didn’t name any of them.
Rams’ Donald Dealing With Ankle Injury
Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald suffered an ankle sprain during his team’s Week 12 contest against the Chiefs Sunday, head coach Sean McVay confirmed. The team is evaluating the severity of Donald’s injury and will have an update in the next 48 hours. He has not missed a contest since the 2017 season.
Gordon Finds New Home
Former Broncos running back Melvin Gordon signed with the Chiefs on Monday, NFL Media reported. Gordon was released by the Broncos last week after his fumbling issue cost Denver in a loss to the Raiders.
Gordon joins a backfield that lost Clyde Edwards-Helaire to injured reserve and relied on Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco in Week 12.
Rodgers to Undergo MRI
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is scheduled to have an MRI on his ribs on Monday, NFL Media reported. Rodgers suffered the injury during the team’s loss Sunday night against the Eagles. He exited the game in the third quarter and was replaced by Jordan Love for the rest of the game.
Rodgers said he will continue to play if the MRI comes back negative and the Packers are still mathematically in playoff contention.
Mixon On Track to Play Against Chiefs
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon is “trending in the right direction” toward playing against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, ESPN reported. Mixon suffered a concussion two weeks ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers, forcing him to miss the second half of that game and the next week’s contest against the Tennessee Titans.
Chase Likely to Return in Week 13
The Cincinnati Bengals will get wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase back from injury in Week 13 if all goes to plan, according to NFL Media. Chase was reportedly close to returning in time for the team’s Week 12 contest against the Tennessee Titans. But, after missing the previous four weeks with a hip injury, it appears Chase is set to make his true return against the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Sunday, Dec. 4.
49ers Lose Mitchell Once Again
The San Francisco 49ers are without running back Elijah Mitchell yet again. Mitchell suffered a knee injury during the team’s Week 12 win over New Orleans Sunday, reported by The Athletic. It will keep Mitchell out a minimum of six weeks, meaning the earliest he could return is the postseason.
The team’s starter entering the season, Mitchell missed Weeks 2-8 with another knee injury, leading to the team trading for Christian McCaffrey during his absence. McCaffrey had led the backfield since Mitchell’s return, though of note is that the latter led the 49ers in carries since he came back, with 34 to McCaffrey’s 32.
