Saints Extend C Erik McCoy
The New Orleans Saints and center Erik McCoy agreed to terms on a five-year extension worth up to $63.75 million. The Saints have secured the centerpiece of their offensive line by making him a top-5 paid center in the league.
Prescott Leaves Practice EarlyÂ
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott left practice early with ankle issues. It is important to note that the issues were with the same ankle that Prescott injured in 2020. Prescott insists that the issues were caused by a new pair of cleats that he wore today in practice.
McCaffrey Added To Injury Report
The Carolina Panthers added running back Christian McCaffrey to the injury report. McCaffrey is dealing with a shin issue, but was a full participant in today’s practice.
New York Jets Left Tackle Duane Brown Being Evaluated for Possible Injury
The New York Jets are dealing with yet another injury as recently signed offensive tackle Duane Brown missed practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday, per ESPN. Brown is now dealing with a shoulder injury just weeks after being signed to replace Mekhi Becton during training camp. Becton was injured early in camp and was subsequently placed on injured reserve, ending his 2022 season. The severity of Brown's injury, however, remains to be seen.
Los Angeles Rams Extend Sean McVay and Les Snead
The Los Angeles Rams extended coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead on Thursday as the team prepares to defend their Super Bowl title in the 2022 season. The extensions will keep the duo in Los Angeles through 2026 and could reportedly make them the highest-paid leaders in their respective roles, a fitting testament to their success. The Rams will take on the Buffalo Bills Thursday night in the league’s season opener.
New Orleans Saints Sign Wyatt Davis
On Thursday, the New Orleans Saints signed offensive guard Wyatt Davis to their active roster, according to NFL Media. Davis had been a New York Giants practice squad member up until the signing. The former third-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings appeared in six games for the Vikings but did not take the field with his unit for any offensive snaps. Minnesota waived the young guard Aug. 30 as part of their final cut down.
Eagles Restructure Lane Johnson’s Contract
The Philadelphia Eagles freed up about $6.9 million in cap space on Thursday when they restructured the contracts of star offensive tackle Lane Johnson and kicker Jake Elliot. Johnson is a crucial piece of one of the most highly regarded offensive lines in the NFL. Coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts will rely on that line to drive the team’s success. The Eagles will take on the Detroit Lions in Week 1 as they look to compete for NFC East supremacy.Â
Los Angeles Rams Extend Bob Havenstein
The defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams have come to terms on a 3-year extension with offensive tackle Bob Havenstein, according to NFL Media. The extension will be worth $34.5 million, with $24.1 million of the deal guaranteed. The Rams take on the Buffalo Bills Thursday night in the league’s opening game.
Matthew Stafford Ready to Go
After undergoing off-season surgery to address lingering pain in his elbow, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford reportedly feels even better than he did this time last year, according to ESPN. The news surely comes as a relief to Rams fans prepping for their season to kick off on Thursday against the Buffalo Bills. Stafford finished fourth in WAR and PAR last season among all NFL quarterbacks, per Sports Info Solutions, and helped lead his Rams team to a Super Bowl victory.
