Jaguars Trade WR Laviska Shenault to Panthers

Laviska Shenault

The Jacksonville Jaguars traded wide receiver Laviska Shenault to the Carolina Panthers on Monday in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round draft pick and a 2024 sixth-rounder.

Shenault appeared to be the odd man out in Jacksonville after the Jaguars signed Christian Kirk and Zay Jones in the offseason. Last year, Jacksonville added veteran Marvin Jones, who had 73 receptions for 832 yards in his debut season with the Jaguars.

It appears several teams, including the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons, were interested in Shenault before Jacksonville accepted Carolina's offer.

Shenault was a second-round pick in 2020. After an electric college career at Colorado, he was expected to bring that spark with him to the NFL. While the Jaguars never saw the same production, he did show flashes at times. He enters the 2022 season coming off career highs in receptions (63) and receiving yards (619).

Shenault now heads to Carolina to play with Baker Mayfield. He enters another crowded receiver room but one where he will have a fresh start.
