Build

Does he have prototype size? What is body type? What is growth potential?

Adequate build for the position with sufficient height and weight. Length is adequate and he makes use of it. Frame is above the line as he's well built in both the upper and lower body.

Mental

Is he instinctual? Does he play with urgency?

Adequate toughness, doesn't shy away from contact but also doesn't seem to seek it out. Instincts are above the line, highly intelligent football player as both a blocker and receiver. Above the line motor, quickly and constantly getting outside or to the second level with blocks or running multiple routes when his QB scrambles.

Athleticism

Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Average explosiveness and adequate speed. Body control is adequate, sufficient for catch adjustments but not a strength. Flexibility and bend are simply average as he struggles with it with his frame. Change of direction is adequate but inconsistent. Shows flashes of better but needs to improve consistency. Play strength is adequate.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Route running is adequate, as he is limited in what he runs, but solid at those. Release is just average due to inconsistency but can and must improve. Ball skills are simply adequate. Again, there are flashes of great contested catch ability, but he makes frustrating drops on catchable passes that need fixing. Ball carrier ability is adequate, as he isn't an impressive athlete but is smart with the ball in his hands and doesn't shy away from tacklers. Blocking is above the line with adequate strike and violence, as he is not often beat when engaged with a defender but doesn't drive his matchup back consistently. Reliability is limited, as his inconsistency in many areas holds him back and needs fixing.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
True Senior who has played in 45 games over 4 seasons at Ohio State. Former top-50 recruit and #2 TE in his class. Played only a minor receiving role in the Ohio State offense that doesn't have big usage of TE's. More developed blocker than receiver at this point in time. Comfortable in his impressive frame and knows how to use it. Athleticism is sufficient but not a strength. Technical skills need refinement but have a starting point. Not ready to start but could contribute as depth right away as he improves.
