Rushing Yardage Lines to Consider
Derrick Henry LOWER than 1225.5 Rushing Yards
Derrick Henry has started to show his age during the past two seasons, missing at least one game due to injury in each of them. His ability to break off long runs has steadily decreased, too. He peaked in 2018 and 2019 with 14 percent of his runs going for more than 10 yards. Last season, only 10.6 percent of his runs went for at least 10 yards.
The Tennessee Titans once again will have a well-below-average supporting cast and offensive line to support him. You can make a case the Titans' quarterback, offensive line and receiver combination are the NFL’s worst on paper.
Last season, Henry was one of five runners to top this number, in large part due to the number of injuries that occur at the running back position.
Breece Hall HIGHER than 850.5 Rushing Yards
There is encouraging optimism from nearly every medical professional specializing in football that Breece Hall will be healthy for the 2023 NFL season. Last year, he was on pace for more than 1,100 yards rushing, despite averaging just seven carries per game in the first three weeks of his rookie season.
Even if he misses several games to begin the year, this line is low enough that he can make up for it. Aaron Rodgers at quarterback is also a boon to Hall, as defenses cannot key in on the rushing attack as they did last season.
The only addition to the Jets’ running back room was Israel Abanikanda (2023 fifth-round pick), so it would be surprising to see any other runner take major work from Hall. Assuming camp reports are encouraging, this number should climb closer to 1,100 yards rushing by the end of summer.
The current line already assumes multiple games missed, and unless there is a catastrophic setback in his recovery, Hall should clear this early in December.
