Seahawks Hire Mike Macdonald As Head Coach

The Seattle Seahawks are hiring Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald as their new head coach.

Macdonald is the NFL's youngest head coach at the age of 36, replacing Pete Carroll, who was the NFL's oldest head coach.

Macdonald rose up the coaching ladder rather quickly after joining the Ravens’ staff in 2014. He’s worked with Baltimore coach John Harbaugh every season except 2021 when he worked as the defensive coordinator at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh.

In his two years as Baltimore’s defensive coordinator, the Ravens finished third and first in fewest points allowed and ninth and sixth in fewest yards allowed. This past season, Baltimore allowed the fewest points per game (16.5) while also recording the most sacks (60) and takeaways (31).

Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and Carolina defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero were the other candidates up for the job.
