Rams Finalizing Deal to Trade WR Allen Robinson to Steelers

Allen Robinson, WR, Los Angeles Rams

The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding a wide receiver to help support second-year QB Kenny Pickett. The Steelers are expected to trade for Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Allen Robinson, ESPN reported on Tuesday.

The Steelers are sending a seventh-round pick (No. 234) to the Rams in exchange for Robinson and a seventh-rounder (No. 251).

Robinson, 29, will head to Pittsburgh for a physical on Wednesday, and if he passes, the trade will be completed. The veteran wide receiver is owed $15.25 million this season, but the Rams will pay $10.25 million of his salary, leaving the Steelers to pay the remaining $5 million.

Robinson signed a three-year, $46.5 million contract with the Rams last offseason, but he never found his footing with the team. He finished this past season with 33 receptions for 339 yards and three touchdowns. Robinson only played in 10 games last season because of a fracture in his foot that required season-ending surgery.

If the deal is completed, Robinson will be another veteran the Rams jettisoned this offseason. The team released linebacker Bobby Wagner and edge rusher Leonard Floyd and traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins.

The Steelers are hoping Robinson can help them get back to the postseason this coming season. Pittsburgh finished 9-8 last season but was left outside of the playoff picture. Robinson will join receivers Diontae Johnson and George Pickens, along with tight end Pat Freiermuth and running back Najee Harris on the Steelers' offense.
