Report: Rams, Dolphins Negotiating Jalen Ramsey Trade

Rams Cornerback Jalen Ramsey

The Los Angeles Rams are negotiating a trade with the Miami Dolphins that would send cornerback Jalen Ramsey to Miami, NFL Media reported. Ramsey has three years remaining on his contract and was due to have a $25.2 million cap hit for 2023.

The Rams are just one season removed from a Super Bowl victory but had a disastrous follow-up to their championship-winning campaign. Los Angeles finished 5-12 in 2022, finishing in third place in the NFC West. They failed to make the playoffs as a rotating cast of players moved in and out of the lineup due to injury. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and Super Bowl MVP wide receiver Cooper Kupp each missed eight games.

Ramsey is a three-time, First-team All-Pro, most recently in 2021. He continued to produce in 2022, earning a Pro Bowl selection despite the Rams' struggles.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, are no stranger to headline-stealing trades. Since bringing in new coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins pulled off blockbuster deals for 2022 All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill and 2022 Pro Bowl pass rusher Bradley Chubb.

Miami, who made the playoffs in 2022 before losing in the first round to the Buffalo Bills, will be hoping Ramsey provides the edge it needs in a competitive AFC East division. The Dolphins will need a strong secondary to counter Bills' star Josh Allen and, potentially, a new star quarterback with the New York Jets.
