Mayfield Will Be Active for TNF

Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield will be active on Thursday night vs. the Los Angeles Raiders, NFL Media reported. The Rams claimed Mayfield off waivers on Tuesday after the Panthers honored the quarterback's request to be cut on Monday.

If John Wolford, who is battling a neck injury, can't start, Mayfield could make his debut just two days into his Rams' tenure.

Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz suffered an ACL and MCL tear during the Cardinals' Week 10 game against the Rams, Ertz told reporters on Thursday. Ertz said he hopes to return to action by Week 1 of the 2023 season.

Former Cowboys HC Finalist for Stanford Job

Jason Garrett, former Cowboys head coach and current NBC analyst, is a finalist for Stanford University's head coaching job, The Athletic reported. Garrett coached the Cowboys from 2010 to 2019 and finished with a career record of 85-67 but was only 2-3 in playoff games.

Garrett has never held a collegiate coaching position. Sacramento State coach Troy Taylor is, reportedly, the other top candidate for the job.

Prior reporting indicated Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who coached at Stanford under Jim Harbaugh, was being heavily considered for the position. However, it appears Stanford will go in a different direction.

Mixon Expected to Play vs. Browns

Bengals running back Joe Mixon is expected to make his return to the field on Sunday vs. the Browns, NFL Media reported. Mixon has missed the Bengals' last two games with a concussion. Cincinnati has relied on Samaje Perine in Mixon's absence.

Titans' Farley Out for Year

Tennessee Titans defensive back Caleb Farley will miss the remainder of the 2022 NFL season after undergoing surgery on his back, according to ESPN.
