The New York Jets and free agent wide receiver Allen Lazard agreed to terms on a four-year, $44 million deal on Tuesday, a move that could be the final piece for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to agree to a trade between the two teams.

An announcement about Rodgers' plans might come as soon as Wednesday when he will resume his semi-regular appearances on the Pat McAfee Show at 1 p.m. EDT. Perhaps Rodgers will channel his inner-LeBron James and announce a Decision about where he is taking his talents while conversing with McAfee and former Packers teammate A.J. Hawk.

If he does decide to join the Jets, maybe he also will announce the trade terms before pounding the table for more Jets transactions.

The Lazard move, first reported by Jordan Schultz of theScore, came on the same day news broke that Rodgers had submitted a list of free agent receivers he wanted the Jets to sign. Lazard was one of four players named. The others included WR Randall Cobb, TE Marcedes Lewis — good friends and trusted targets in Green Bay — and Odell Beckham Jr., whom Rodgers, a four-time MVP, attempted to recruit to the Packers in the past on more than one occasion.

Last season, with Davante Adams moved on to Las Vegas, Lazard caught a team-high 60 passes for 788 yards and six touchdowns. Rodgers targeted him 100 times; no other receiver had more than 67 targets.

Assuming the Rodgers trade goes through, Lazard and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson would provide Rodgers with a pair of talented receiving targets, one of whom he built a rapport with over the last five seasons.

Adding Lazard also might bring stability to a young receiving corps that saw two wideouts, Denzel Mims and Elijah Moore, request trades last year.

Last month while attending Super Bowl LVII festivities in Phoenix, Lazard told TMZ there was no quarterback greater than Rodgers in the history of the NFL.

"The greatest of all time," Lazard said. "Not might, no might. Drop the might. He's the G.O.A.T. The best person to ever pick up a football and throw the ball. I'll leave it at that."

Lazard is the 59th-best player on The 33rd Team's top 150 free agent list and the fourth-best wide receiver.
