Randall Cobb Signs With Jets, Reunites With Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb

The New York Jets made another move to sign one of Aaron Rodgers' former teammates on Wednesday. The team and veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb agreed to a one-year deal, ESPN reported.

The deal includes $3 million guaranteed with the possibility of becoming worth $4 million, theScore reported.

Cobb is the fourth former Green Bay Packer and Rodgers teammate the Jets have signed this offseason, along with QB Tim Boyle, WR Allen Lazard and OT Billy Turner. The Jets' also hired former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett for the same position. Rodgers cited Hackett as one of the main reasons he decided to play for the Jets this season.

Cobb was one of the names reportedly on a list of players Rodgers wanted the Jets to sign before he was officially traded. Rodgers denied giving the Jets a list of players to sign during his March 15 appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, but Lazard and Cobb were both on the list and now play for the Jets.

This isn't the first time Cobb has joined a new team, at least in part due to Rodgers' influence. During the 2021 offseason, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said the team traded for Cobb because Rodgers wanted Cobb back on the team. Green Bay had to move a sixth-round pick to the Houston Texans for Cobb.

Cobb adds another reliable weapon to an already impressive group of Jets' skill position players. Along with Lazard, Cobb will join 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, and Mecole Hardman in the wide receiver room. RB Breece Hall should return from injury this season as well.

In 13 games last season, Cobb recorded 34 catches for 417 yards and one touchdown. The veteran receiver hasn't finished with more than 500 yards in a season since 2019 with the Dallas Cowboys.
