With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, I’ve started a superlatives series to preview each position group.

This series will cover a wide range of prospects and highlight the players who stand out the most in specific categories. Today, we’re breaking down the quarterback class.

RB Superlatives | WR Superlatives

2025 Draft QB Superlatives

STRONGEST ARM

Jalen Milroe, Alabama Alabama Crimson Tide logo

There’s a good chance Jalen Milroe returns to school, but if he enters the draft, he’ll have the strongest arm in the 2025 quarterback class.

Milroe has a quick, concise release and can push the ball 55-60 yards downfield with precision. He’s capable of challenging split-safety coverages without even stepping into a throw. He also has exceptional drive power to generate velocity and fit the ball into tight windows.

Drew Allar is a similarly talented passer with less velocity but better touch than Milroe.

Honorable Mention: Drew Allar – Penn State

BEST PLAYMAKER

Cam Ward, Miami Miami Hurricanes logo

Cam Ward is an electric playmaker with rare instincts out of structure. His mobility allows him to escape pressure and extend plays, and his arm talent gives him access to difficult off-platform throws.

When he escapes the pocket, he keeps his eyes downfield and anticipates receivers uncovering as they extend their routes.

His aggressive mentality results in many dangerous throws, and he’ll need to be more protective of the football in the NFL. Many of his late-game heroics from this season were only necessary because of poor decisions that put Miami in a deficit. However, Ward’s creativity when the play breaks down makes him a high-upside prospect if he can refine the other aspects of his game.

No other quarterback in this class compares to Ward as a playmaker. Milroe has the physical traits but lacks the release flexibility to make accurate throws off-platform. Shedeur Sanders has excellent playmaking instincts but lacks the mobility to escape pressure and has average arm talent.

Honorable Mention: Jalen Milroe – Alabama

BEST PROCESSOR

Kurtis Rourke, Indiana Indiana logo

Kurtis Rourke has physical limitations that will likely cause him to fall to Day 3, but he’s one of the best processors from a clean pocket in this class.

Rourke is a savvy veteran with 1400 career dropbacks who has seen every coverage and can work through progressions quickly. He’s led Indiana’s hyper-efficient passing game with efficient processing and sound decision-making. Rourke understands when to abandon his primary read and frequently progresses to backside in-breakers with optimal timing.

He lacks the mobility to keep the play alive when he gets pressured, but Rourke has a high floor as a backup and could find success behind a quality offensive line.

Honorable Mention: Shedeur Sanders – Colorado

BEST SHORT-INTERMEDIATE ACCURACY

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado Colorado logo

Shedeur Sanders is a surgical intermediate passer who’s nearly automatic within 20 yards.

Despite his average physical traits, he’s widely considered the top quarterback in this year’s class, which speaks to his ball placement and advanced processing ability.

Sanders’ consistent footwork and mechanics allow him to attack tight windows over the middle of the field. While his lack of velocity creates some limitations, he also has excellent ball placement on throws outside the hashes.

Rourke and Sanders are equally qualified for the last two superlatives.

Honorable Mention: Kurtis Rourke – Indiana

BEST DEEP ACCURACY

Will Howard, Ohio State Ohio State Buckeyes logo

Will Howard is not the best deep passer in this class, as his arm is fairly limited, but he is the most accurate quarterback on deep throws. While he doesn’t have the expanded range of players like Milroe or Allar, Howard can deliver the ball to Ohio State’s weapons with pinpoint accuracy.

He throws very catchable sideline shots with good touch. He has exceptional placement on seams and deep overs, smoothly layering the ball over the coverage and into his receiver’s hands.

Honorable Mention: Carson Beck – Georgia

BEST OVER THE MIDDLE

Carson Beck, Georgia Georgia Bulldogs logo

Despite his rocky Senior year, Carson Beck will be valued by NFL teams due to his ability to attack the middle of the field. Beck is one of the best anticipatory passers in the 2025 Draft class and can execute full-field, pro-style concepts from the pocket.

He has good recognition of zone coverage windows and enough zip to drive the ball between defenders. He’s also capable of climbing the pocket and scanning the field as he finds launch points in the face of pressure.

Beck’s fearlessness targeting the middle of the field can get him into trouble, as he’s doubled his interception total from last season. But if he can harness his aggression, his play style and skill set will translate to the NFL.

Honorable Mention: Shedeur Sanders – Colorado

BEST OUTSIDE THE NUMBERS

Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss Ole Miss Rebels logo

Ole Miss’s offense is difficult to evaluate, as it provides the quarterback with defined answers and rarely targets the middle of the field. But in that scheme, Jaxson Dart has proven himself as one of the best quarterbacks in college football on throws outside the numbers.

Dart is a naturally accurate passer with feathery touch and consistent ball placement on go and fade routes.

Honorable Mention: Kurtis Rourke – Indiana

BEST RUNNER

Jalen Milroe, Alabama Alabama Crimson Tide logo

Milroe is not only the best rushing quarterback in this class but arguably the most dynamic runner we’ve seen since Michael Vick.

He has elite speed and explosiveness and can teleport from the pocket into open space before defenders have time to react. He effortlessly burns pursuit angles from defensive backs and rarely gets caught from behind.

Milroe can punish defenses for playing man coverage with his electric scrambling ability or thrive as a designed runner on zone read and quarterback power. We don’t have verified numbers at this point in the process, but I’d expect Milroe’s 40-yard dash time to be somewhere in the 4.3s.

Honorable Mention: Taylen Green – Arkansas
