Six NFL Teams Inquiring about Arizona Cardinals’ No. 3 Pick
Expert Analysis 4/10/23
The Arizona Cardinals have a lot of suitors if they want to trade down from the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Six teams have called the Cardinals about potentially moving the pick, ESPN reported on Monday.
The Cardinals, led by new general manager Monti Ossenfort and coach Jonathan Gannon, have yet to decide whether or not to make a trade, according to the report.
The Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans are expected to take quarterbacks with the first two picks, so the Cardinals’ pick at No. 3 has become a prime target for a trade-up. The Cardinals gave Kyler Murray a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension last offseason, likely taking Arizona out of the quarterback sweepstakes. Murray is expected to miss at least the beginning of next season while recovering from a torn ACL he suffered on Dec. 12, 2022.
This year’s draft is widely considered to have four top quarterbacks with Alabama’s Bryce Young (scouting report), Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud (scouting report), Florida’s Anthony Richardson (scouting report) and Kentucky’s Will Levis (scouting report).
The Cardinals have eight selections in the draft, including Nos. 34, 66 and 96 overall. A potential trade back likely would net them another pick inside the first two rounds.
Arizona is also rumored to be shopping wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, and a deal for the five-time All-Pro also could return another high draft pick.
