Insiders Network: Our Biggest Mentors

Insiders Network: Our Biggest Mentors

The 33rd Team’s Insiders Network is a group of former NFL coaches and front-office executives who are here to provide insight and perspective into all things football. Each week during the season, we reach out to members of our Insiders Network to get their thoughts on a topical question. Here is this week’s question:

Who has been your biggest mentor throughout your career?

Wade Phillips:

O.A. “Bum” Phillips. I know you're surprised! What made him such a great mentor was his knowledge, experience, communication and teaching skills.

Mike Tannenbaum:

Bill Parcells has been my biggest mentor. He taught me so much about football, and more importantly about life. I treasure the four years that I had a chance to work for him.

Tom Lewand:

My biggest mentor has always been my father. Professionally, Bo Schembechler was someone who also mentored me from my days as an undergrad at Michigan through my time at the Lions.

Joe Banner:

Andy Reid. Got to see it all done at the highest level and always with common sense and integrity. Also saw the importance of surrounding yourself with the best people you can find.
