How the Browns Offense Performs Without Deshaun Watson

After a nearly 18-month investigation and legal battle, the suspension of Deshaun Watson has finally been announced. Judge Sue Robinson, who was appointed by both the league and Watson’s camp, made the decision for the suspension to be six games, according to multiple reports.
While this isn’t the end of the line concerning his playing status and legal issues, there are other things at play, especially with the Cleveland Browns organization preparing for week one against the Carolina Panthers.
The Browns have Plenty of Talent
With Watson out, Jacoby Brissett will be the starting quarterback for the Browns. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has built the Browns with an identity of running the football and playing stout defense. The offensive line is talented and physical, with the ability to get nasty in the trenches. They’ve got two impressive backs – Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, arguably the best running back duo in the NFL.
The defense, led by Myles Garrett, is built in a very similar way. They have budding young stars in the secondary, and players like Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome and Grant Delpit should keep the Browns competitive.
Brissett is a player who knows exactly what he is. He prepares like a professional and plays within himself. He doesn’t try to do too much and doesn’t stray from his skill set. Stefanski will utilize everything around Brissett to both maximize his effectiveness and hide his limitations with the running game, defense and the kicking game.
The Browns aren’t in the best situation with Watson’s suspension, but they have the infrastructure in place to weather the storm.
