Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Nothing about Turner's athleticism really jumps off the screen, but he is an adequate one and gets the job done. He is a smooth runner with the ability to accelerate over the top. He possesses above the line body to control to adjust his body in the air and make a high level catch. He bursts out of cuts for the most part and changes direction adequately. That said, he runs a bit high and can take a few extra steps in transition. Although he shows off some physicality, his light weight and high chest allow DBs to get thier hands on him and push him around a bit.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Turner shows adequate short area agility and some crafty stutter releases to defeat the press. He has the ability to stretch the field and has won over the top. He projects as an adequate route runner, as he bursts out of his cuts and utilizes some effective head fakes at the top of his breaks. Aside from a couple of random drops, Turner has showcased smooth hands. He has above the line ball skills, as he tracks the ball well and can adjust his body in the air to make the catch. He has a long frame that gives him a large catch radius. Turner has been used on screens and run plays and can be tough to bring down after the catch, as he bursts with the ball in his hands. He shows the size and effort to be an adequate blocker. ... His thin frame allows DBs to get their hands into his chest and redirect his route off of the line. He ran a pretty limited route tree in college and is not an elite athlete to make up for it, so he will need to develop his game there. He does not have game-breaking speed to be a consistent deep threat and is not overly dynamic after the catch.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
Turner has been an extremely productive receiver in his 4 years with the Hokies. He has appeared in almost every game since stepping onto campus and will look to have the same success at the next level. He has a thin but long frame and has shown the ability to stretch the field and make big plays at the catch point. He can be used in a number of different alignments and can even run the ball, as he is versatile. He has room to grow as a route runner and is just an adequate athlete. For that reason, Turner projects best as a versatile outside receiver in a WR3 role and will have an immediate impact in the league.
