Adequate instincts, has a solid feel for defensive fronts and pursuit, is twitchy/reactive and will quickly change course if it will help him gain extra yards. Adequate motor/effort, plays with determined leg drive entering and through contact. Adequate toughness, willing to take defenders head-on and take a tackle if it’s going to help move the ball.

Athleticism

Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Average overall athletic ability with average explosiveness and speed, won’t consistently beat defenders to the outside or on the second/third level with his burst and speed alone. Adequate COD, nimble/ agile on his feet can change 45 degree angles and below very quickly which really helps his ability to burst to the outside on an inside run. Average stop/start 90-degree lateral agility and juke moves, faster on his feet when moving, only average deceleration and cuts from high-speed. Adequate body control, and bend/flexibility, contorts his body creatively in the open field pulling his hip away from the defender to skirt free. Average play strength, won’t beat many non-secondary players in contact as a runner or as a blocker.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Average ball security, 3 fumbles in 2021, only 2 in the previous 4 seasons. Adequate path discipline, is deliberate in his attempts to ride outside run paths and it pays off with more blocks set up and improved inside/outside avenues opening up. Average inside run performance, limited size, average play strength and natural stockiness limits his ability to slip through interior gaps and burst to the second level. Adequate Outside Run, has the adequate path discipline to set-up blocks, adequate decision making, and adequate twitch/ burst to either cut inside or bounce the run outside/ to the sideline. Average finisher in the open field and MYM ability, greatest asset is his body contortion at high speed to evade inbound defenders, also possesses adequate power when playing with forward momentum to break arm tackles; however, average twitch and average play strength without momentum means he will struggle to consistently threaten defenders with power or agility. Adequate receiving ability, has adequate soft hands, capable of catching over the middle, out the backfield and on deep ST assignments like punt returns. Average YAC, doesn’t have the high-end twitch to shimmy/shake away from defenders in the flats and create larger gains. Average Pass Pro, adequate pick-up, with a strong low base with balance to work from.
