He moves well and shows above the line speed for a tackle. He is somewhat flexible for his build which allows him to be a knee bender when attacking defenders. His COD is adequate with his foot agility allowing him to mimic the first step of defenders. His overall play strength allows him to stalemate most blocks and tangle up defenders.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Goedeke has the strike/punch and disposition to be an effective run blocker at the next level. He times up his fits well and uses proper hand positioning/angles when initiating contact. His foot drive is active at first but wanes as it progresses throughout the play. He seals his hips towards the gap and attempts to pry open gaps. He shows adequate pass blocking ability with the anchor strength to hunker down his edge of the line. Goedeke's feet are what limit his pass blocking ability. He is a much more effective quick setting tackle although he can vertical set well enough. His athleticism and hand strike makes him an adequate second level and pulling/trapping blocker. He can breakdown at the POA and create paths on the second level.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
Goedeke projects as a late day two pick with the ability to play right tackle or guard his rookie year. He would benefit from sitting and developing his technique to get the most out of his initial start. He has the athleticism and strength to be effective at this level but needs to refine his footwork and vertical sets to be prepared for intricate NFL passing attacks. Goedeke has a moderately high athletic ceiling but will need to work on his footwork to take his game to the next level.
