The Arizona Cardinals have waived veteran TE Zach Ertz after he requested to be released.

Ertz, 32, has 27 catches for 187 yards with one touchdown this season. He has not played since October 22nd due to a quad injury. During that time, second-year TE Trey McBride has emerged as a key weapon in Arizona's offense.

A former second-round pick in 2013, Ertz spent the first nine years of his career with the Eagles where he made three Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl. He was traded to Arizona during the 2021 season and signed a three-year, $31.65 million extension in 2022. He had 47 catches for 406 yards with four touchdowns last season before suffering a season-ending torn ACL.

Ertz now goes on waivers, where any team could claim him and the remainder of his contract for this season, which is about $2.5M million If he clears, he'd become an unrestricted free agent and could sign with any team.
