Golladay, Claypool Among 5 Receiver Trade Targets for Packers

The NFL’s mid-season hunt for wide receiver talent is well under way as the Baltimore Ravens signed DeSean Jackson on Tuesday and superstar Odell Beckham Jr. continues to tour the short list of contenders competing for his services. The Green Bay Packers, meanwhile, might need to look to the trade market to address their need at wideout.

Here’s a look at five receivers the Packers should consider targeting.

Denzel Mims, New York Jets

Here is a big, long, vertical threat that just hasn’t panned out based on where the team drafted him. Mims hasn’t been active at all so far this season for New York, so he’s a target that could be available.

Kenny Golladay, New York Giants

Now, this may be a contract the Packers are unable to absorb; Golladay was a big-money free agent signing. But here is another guy that hasn’t found a role in his team’s offense in the way they might have hoped.

Kadarius Toney, New York Giants

Another New York wideout that could be available via trade — Toney has battled injury for much of the season, and I can’t be certain whether it’s significant enough to prevent a trade. Still, Toney has had only four targets this season, so it’s possible he could be moved for the right price.

Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots

Bourne has been in and out of the dog house for coach Bill Belichick, and last week against Cleveland, he only participated in four offensive snaps. So, could the Packers turn him into a weapon?

Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers

Coming off a huge win over Tampa Bay in Week 6, Pittsburgh may be more hesitant to sell going forward. But if the deadline approaches and the losses mount for Pittsburgh, they could be a team looking to move on from a player like Claypool. He’s another big, physical downfield receiver that can REALLY run.
