Is This a New Golden Age for NFL Quarterbacks?
With Tua Tagovailoa now the Miami Dolphins' starter, there are a total of 14 starting quarterbacks in the NFL who are 25 years old or younger. Twenty starters -- 62.5% -- are under 30. Assuming most if not all of these young signal-callers stay healthy and keep their jobs, this could be the dawn of a new golden age for NFL quarterbacks.
Tagovailoa, 22, is one of three starters in the AFC East who are 24 or younger (Cam Newton, at 31, is the old man). The youngest division is the AFC West, with Justin Herbert (22), Drew Lock (23), Patrick Mahomes (25) and Derek Carr (29).
Oldest division? The NFC South, of course, with 43-year-old Tom Brady and 41-year-old Drew Brees bringing the avergae age way up.
