Monday, Dec. 19

Hurts' Status for Cowboys Matchup in Doubt

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts sprained his shoulder in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, putting his status for Philadelphia's critical Week 16 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in doubt, per NFL Media.

Hurts' injury is reportedly unlikely to affect him longterm, but if he is unavailable to play against Dallas on Saturday it will have an impact on the NFC playoff race as the Eagles pursue the No. 1 seed.

Jets Likely Starting Wilson on TNF

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will likely make his second straight start on Thursday night against the Jaguars, NFL Media reported. Mike White, who suffered a ribs injury in Week 14, still hasn't been cleared for contact.

Wilson started in the team's loss to the Lions in Week 15 and showed some statistical improvement from his previous starts. He completed 18-of-35 passes for 317 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. However, the Jets still lost, making Thursday's game critical to their playoff chances.

Taylor Could Miss Rest of Season

Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain following the team's historic collapse against the Vikings on Saturday, NFL Media reported. Taylor was injured early in the game and never returned to action as he was replaced by Zack Moss and Deon Jackson.

Taylor missed time earlier this season after suffering a sprained ankle against the Titans in Week 4.

Jaguars Lose Starting OT

Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson will likely miss the rest of the season due to a meniscus injury, coach Doug Pederson told reporters. Robinson suffered the injury in the team's come-from-behind victory against the Cowboys on Sunday.

The Jaguars play on Thursday night with a chance to pull even closer to the Tennessee Titans at the top of the AFC South.

Packers Waive Sammy Watkins

The Packers waived wide receiver Sammy Watkins on Monday, NFL Media reported. Watkins is eligible to be claimed by another team and could play a role for a contender in need of playmaking on the offensive side.

Now in his ninth professional season, Watkins was the No. 4 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. He's compiled over 350 career receptions for nearly 5,300 career yards receiving while playing for five different NFL teams.

McCoy In Concussion Protocol

Cardinals QB Colt McCoy is in concussion protocol, coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters. There is no word yet on McCoy's status for the Cardinals' upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the team will reportedly err on the side of caution going forward.

At 4-10, Arizona is in last place in the AFC West with little hope of salvaging any meaningful success in 2022.

Peters to Miss Time

Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters is likely to miss a short period of time with a calf strain, NFL Media reported. Peters' absence is not likely to be an extensive one as the Ravens continue to compete for playoff seeding down the stretch.

Hubbard Could Be Back for Playoffs

The Bengals expect pass rusher Sam Hubbard to miss a few weeks due to a calf injury suffered Sunday, NFL Media reported. Hubbard has been a key contributor for the Bengals who hope to have him back in time for the 2022 NFL playoffs.

Vander Esch Avoids Neck Injury, Could Miss Time

Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch suffered a shoulder stinger in Dallas' loss to the Jaguars on Sunday and could miss some time, NFL Media reported. The Cowboys initially feared the injury was to Vander Esch's neck, but it appears he avoided that scenario based on additional testing performed Monday.

Falcons RB Suffers Major Injury

Falcons running back Caleb Huntley suffered an Achilles injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season, ESPN reported. Huntley suffered the injury in the first half of the team's loss to the Saints on Sunday.

Huntley had 366 rushing yards and one touchdown this season.
