Rams Stay on Top, Seahawks Rise in Week 5 Discipline Index

Week 5 Discipline Index

Despite a tough showing against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4, the Los Angeles Rams are still on top of the 33rd Team’s Discipline Index heading into Week 5.

Here is how the top-10 of this week’s Discipline Index unfolded:

As a reminder, the 33rd Team’s Discipline Index combines the number of penalties, penalty yardage and turnovers on a per-game basis in order to show which teams are able to play the most mistake-free football in any given week.

Even though the Rams have managed to play an extremely disciplined brand of football en route to a 3-1 start, the Seattle Seahawks rise to No. 2 in these rankings give the NFC West the top-two teams in the NFL as far as discipline total goes. The Seahawks appeared to be trending in the wrong direction after two straight losses, but they managed to strike back in a big way in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers. This performance was a particularly strong one for Seattle as far as discipline goes, as they only had 27 yards worth of penalties and did not have a single turnover. Due to that, the Seahawks were able to rise five spots and place right behind one of their division foes ahead of a very important matchup. Both the Rams and Seahawks will be tested on Thursday Night Football in Week 5 as the two teams square off for the rights to second place in the division.

The rest of the Week 5 Discipline Index is as follows:
