2022 NFL Draft Undrafted Free Agents Tracker

UDFA Tracker Carson Strong

More NFL players join the league as Undrafted Free Agents (UDFA) than are drafted in any round. With that in mind, our 2022 NFL Draft Undrafted Free Agents Tracker is not just tracking players joining the end of rosters to be cut later.

No, in fact, the players signed after the draft on this UDFA Tracker have a real chance to be core members of their respective teams down the road. Sometimes they will contribute early on special teams before carving out a bigger role. Other times, these will be the core backups who will find themselves thrust into the spotlight at some point—even in their rookie season.

UDFA Tracker

These signings are often fluid, so update the Undrafted Free Agents Tracker often for the latest news, notes & analysis on these players.

The 33rd Team’s Top 25 UDFA Available Post-Draft

1.Dustin Crum (QB Kent State) —Kansas City Chiefs source

Analysis: While the Chiefs certainly have their QB in place, signing Crum gives them a quality developmental QB who can be a high-end backup. Crum was the 33rd Team’s fourth-highest ranked QB and 84th overall player, so signing him as a UDFA is tremendous value.

2. Carson Strong (QB Nevada) —Philadelphia Eagles source

Analysis: In somewhat of a surprise, Strong did not hear his name called across the seven rounds of the NFL draft. With the signing of Strong, the Eagles added to their very impressive weekend of draft picks and trades. While there is some concern with Strong’s knee and his mobility as a result, he is a cerebral player with phenomenal arm strength.

3. Leon O’Neal Jr (S Texas A&M) — San Francisco 49ers source

Analysis: O’Neal was likely not picked due to off-the-field concerns. As the 33rd Team’s 99th ranked player, he provides a lot of upside as a developmental free safety, especially as such a low-risk signing.

4. Justyn Ross (WR Clemson)

Analysis: Ross has been a big name around college football for years ever since he broke as a freshman. Due to a number of significant injuries over the past few seasons, a draft slide was not surprising but not getting picked at all was. Still unsigned, Ross can provide great value for any team that signs him if he can stay on the field.

5. Verone McKinley III (CB Oregon) —Miami Dolphins

Analysis: McKinley seemed like he would be a prime day three target for any team looking for a ball-hawking safety. However, he was not selected and now the Dolphins can benefit, as they hope McKinley can grow into a key backup and special teams role, given proper time.

6. Jalen Wydermyer(TE Texas A&M)—Buffalo Bills source

Analysis: Wydermyer did not test very well, which is likely what caused him to slip out of the draft, but as a talented receiver with a large frame, he could easily earn a coveted roster spot on the Bills.

7. Christopher Hinton (DT Michigan) —New York Giants source

Analysis: The Giants have been committed to building up their trenches and adding Hinton as a developmental piece only emphasizes that. Hinton can provide some much-needed depth as a versatile defender on the interior.

8. Dohnovan West (OC Arizona State) — San Francisco 49ers source

Analysis: West, surprisingly, did not get drafted over the weekend, but as an experienced and versatile IOL, West has a chance to stick around on any NFL roster. This was a quality pick-up for the 49ers.

9. Josh Jobe (CB Alabama) —Philadelphia Eagles source

Analysis: Jobe had a very productive college career, as he has been a significant contributor on the Crimson Tide defense for the last four seasons. Jobe can come in right away and add depth and play on all of the special teams for the Eagles.

10. JoJo Domann (LB Nebraska) —Indianapolis Colts source

Analysis: Domann, who was very productive as both a LB and a S for the Nebraska defense, should be able to provide some of the same versatility at the next level. Despite going undrafted, any NFL defense will have a role for a player of Domann’s skillset.

11. Jayden Peevy (Texas A&M DT)—Tennessee Titans source

Analysis: Peevy does not meet the traditional athletic requirement for NFL DTs, but at 6050 with 35-inch arms, he is worth taking a low risk on as a project interior defender for Tennessee.

12. Sterling Weatherford (S Miami OH) —Indianapolis Colts source

Analysis: A talented safety at the college level, Weatherford, who has tremendous size, will likely make the transition to LB in the NFL. With his versatility, size, and speed, Weatherford should be able to find a role. With Weatherford and Domann, the Colts have added two versatile defenders through the UDFA pool.

13. Xavier Newman-Johnson (OG Baylor) —Tennessee Titans source

Analysis: The experienced Newman-Johnson should be able to come into Tennessee right away and provide depth and versatility on their offensive interior.

14. Josh Seltzner (OG Wisconsin) —Indianapolis Colts source

Analysis: A former walk-on, Seltzner earned a starting role and will now get the chance to compete for an NFL roster spot. He is raw but has the NFL frame to carve out interior defenders.

15. Noah Elliss (DT Idaho) —Philadelphia Eagles source

Analysis: Low competition level and a weak athletic profile are why Elliss was not selected. However, he provides tremendous size and could earn a spot as a developmental NT, which is an area that the Eagles were clearly interested in improving during the draft.

16. Derrick Deese Jr.(TE San Jose St.)—Detroit Lions source

Analysis: Deese is a bit undersized and did not test as well as many teams may have hoped. That said, Deese does a lot of things well and should add some more depth to an already-talented TE room.

17. Mike Rose (LB Iowa State) —Kansas City Chiefs source

Analysis: Rose was one of the most productive and accomplished LBs in the country over the past few seasons. Rose’s skill set does not project as well to the next level, but he should be able to compete for a spot as an early-down defender.

18. Tyler Vrabel (OT Boston College)—Atlanta Falcons source

Analysis: The son of NFL HC, Mike Vrabel, Tyler Vrabel is an experienced OT with positional versatility to play either spot. He is far from a finished product but has the chance to develop with added strength.

19. D’Eriq King (QB Miami)—New England Patriots source

Analysis: King is one of the oldest players in this class and without a doubt, the smallest QB. That is likely why he was not drafted. However, he has a phenomenal athletic profile and was a productive playmaker throughout his college seasons.

20. Jack Coan (QB Notre Dame)—Indianapolis Colts source

Analysis: Coan came off a very solid season and has a chance to be an effective backup QB at the next level. The Colts are able to add to their already, deep QB room with the addition of Coan.

21. Zakoby McClain (LB Auburn) —Baltimore Ravens source

Analysis: McClain is undersized and only an average athlete but he provides some useful scheme versatility. With his ability to contribute on special teams as well, he should be able to remain on an NFL roster.

22. Alec Lindstrom (G Boston College)—Dallas Cowboys source

Analysis: The brother of former Falcons OL Chris Lindstrom, Alec should be able to come in and compete immediately in the Cowboys OL room. He is a little bit undersized, but as a UDFA, is a quality pickup.

23. Haskell Garrett (DT Iowa State) — Tennessee Titans source

Analysis: The Titans have clearly wanted to invest in some depth on their interior defensive line. While Garrett is undersized and may not be able to hold up against the run and the next level, he possesses the tools to provide value as a pass rusher, which is a highly coveted trait.

24. Jerrion Ealy (RB Mississippi) — Kansas City Chiefs source

Analysis: Ealy is very small and only tested average for the RB position but should be able to compete within the Chiefs’ RB room. Ealy has very efficient feet and was a playmaker throughout college.

25. Markquese Bell (S Florida A&M) — Dallas Cowboys source

Analysis: Bell is a raw player but has tremendous H/W/S for the safety position, which makes him very intriguing as a UDFA. Bell will need time but looks to be a low-risk, high-reward signing.
