The Friday Five: Shea Patterson

The Friday Five: Shea Patterson

Shea Patterson is a quarterback for the Michigan Panthers of the USFL and was the first overall draft pick of the inaugural USFL draft. After an illustrious collegiate career at Ole Miss and Michigan, Patterson attended the Senior Bowl before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an Undrafted Free Agent. He spent time with the BC Lions and Montreal Alouettes of the CFL before turning his attention toward the USFL.

We caught up with Shea for this week's Friday Five...

Who is your biggest mentor?

My biggest mentors right now are Jim Harbaugh, Greg Harden and Claiborne Green.

What are you most looking forward to about playing in the USFL?

I love the game of football. I am looking forward to being a part of a team again and being able to lead a group of men week in and week out. I am also just excited for the opportunity to show how much I've grown since college because I've dedicated the last two years of my life preparing for moments like this that will hopefully get my foot in the door and earn a spot on an NFL roster.

What is the most important that that you learned from Jim Harbaugh?

Coach Harbaugh has taught me many things, but I would say the most important thing would be the importance of consistency on and off the field. Having the ability to show up as the same guy every single day and be willing to be the best version of myself regardless of any circumstance has served me in a great way throughout my journey.

What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

One piece of advice that I would give my younger self would be: Take it one day at a time and focus on living in the now. I say that because sometimes people get caught up in who they were or what they did in the past and even worry about what will happen in the future and that can distract you from what's right in front of you..every day is a gift so just realize that the joy of the journey is in the ride and Trust God's plan for you!

If you could invite any three people in history to dinner, who would they be and why?

Denzel Washington (favorite actor)
Albert Einstein (his knowledge)
Jesus...
