Can a Two-Quarterback System Work in the NFL?

Two-quarterback system

Former NFL executives Mike Tannenbaum and Joe Banner got together to discuss the new wave of using two quarterbacks. We've seen it with several teams already this season:

  • 49ers: Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance
  • Bears: Andy Dalton and Justin Fields
  • Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa and Jacoby Brissett (before Tua's injury)
  • Raiders: Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota

"The thing that jumps out at me about it is, I wouldn't want to be the defensive coordinator that has to play these teams coming up," said Banner. "Six days is not enough time to prepare for all the different things that they can do with those two quarterbacks."
