Justin Fields Scouting Profile 12/3/20

Build – Does he have prototype size? Body type/Growth potential?

Real strong build with thick legs and a powerful upper frame. Uses his frame to escape arm tackles in the pocket and can deliver the blow when running the ball

Mental – Is he instinctual? Does he play with urgency?

When flushed out of the pocket, keeps eyes downfield progressing through reads, looks to find space and throw before running. Can take a snap under center. Keeps eyes down field. Not afraid to sit in the pocket and take a hit. Has the under center footwork down already, will be an easy transition. Seen with issues when the teams mix up the looks. Good body language

Athleticism – Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Impressive speed and power on designed runs and options. Always balanced in the pocket with footwork and is seemingly ready to throw the ball at all times. Smart when running the ball – doesn’t take unnecessary hits

Technical – Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Ability to stick back foot in the ground and deliver quick in a closing pocket. Good footwork/balance in and out of the pocket, technical on the run. Solid and accurate short yardage throwers. Impressive anticipation on his throws. Touch pass is impressive (effortless). Not a lot of wasted movement in throwing motion, compact and quick. Footwork is impressive/in rhythm, well balanced, could throw the ball at anytime

Summary – What role does he play? What is his initial projection?

Fields has everything you look for in a franchise quarterback. He has the ability on the field to win games and make those around him better. He also has the leadership and character off the field that you want out of the face of your organization. Will be a top 5 pick in the NFL draft and will be expected to be the starter from day one
