Rams-Bengals Joint Practice Ends in Melee

The joint practice between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals ended early on Thursday due to multiple fights.

Reminiscent of the Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph incident from 2019, Rams star defensive lineman Aaron Donald was caught on video swinging two Bengals players’ helmets during a large melee.

Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters he is unsure as to what caused the fight, while Bengals coach Zac Taylor declined to specify what happened at the practice. Fresh off a tightly contested Super Bowl, there is certainly no love lost between these two clubs. Both coaches confirmed nobody was injured in the fight.

The 33rd Team’s Bill Polian weighed in on the topic of fights during joint practices recently.

"If there’s a downside to joint practices, they can be a breeding ground for player fights," Polian wrote. "Fighting does not belong in the game."

The NFL is not expected to discipline Donald because teams assume responsibility for player conduct during these joint practices. It’s important to note that these two teams will face off on Saturday for their preseason finale.
