Philadelphia Eagles Trade WR Jalen Reagor to Minnesota Vikings

The Philadelphia Eagles traded former first-round draft pick Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday in exchange for a 2023 7th-round pick and a conditional 2024 4th-round pick, according to NFL Media.

In 202o, the Vikings watched the Eagles draft Reagor one pick before they drafted Justin Jefferson. Now, the two receivers are teammates. Jefferson has easily outperformed Reagor on the field, but Reagor now heads to Minnesota in hopes of a fresh start.

During his two-year tenure in Philadelphia, he played in 28 games with 24 starts. He had 64 receptions for 695 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns.

The Vikings subsequently released Ihmir Smith-Marsette to make room for the former TCU receiver.

T.J. McCreight, The 33rd Team's head of scouting shared his thoughts both on the trade and on Reagor the player. He mentions when a team drafts a player in the first round, and they don't pan out they get labeled a "bust."

"When a club drafts a player in the first round and they don't play well," McCreight said. "The drafting team will work to trade the player rather than cut him. It is optics and looks better. The Vikings may feel like it is worth a seventh-round draft pick to see if they can unlock Reagor's potential with a change of scenery. The 2024 4th round pick is conditional, so Reagor would have to make the team and reach a certain production level for the Vikings to lose the 4th rounder.

Of the projected top four receivers for the Vikings, Reagor is the only one with a negative rating in Sports Info Solutions' Total Points metric. He also ranks at the bottom of that group in on-target catch percentage, receiver rating and receiving total points.
