Panthers' Baker Mayfield Has High Ankle Sprain, Out Week 6

Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered a high ankle sprain during the team's Week 5 loss and will miss, at least, Week 6, according to NFL Media. Mayfield has been underwhelming so far for the Panthers, leading them to a 1-4 record to start the season. That includes their 37-15 blowout loss at the hands of the 49ers in Week 5, which helped prompt team owner David Tepper to fire head coach Matt Rhule. Backup QB P.J. Walker relieved Mayfield late in that game and could be in line to start next week against the Rams in Los Angeles.

Emmanuel Moseley Out for the Year

The San Francisco 49ers will be without defensive back Emmanuel Moseley for the remainder of the season, according to ESPN. An MRI confirmed Moseley's prognosis, he suffered a torn ACL and will undergo surgery to repair the damage. Moseley suffered the injury in the 49ers' Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Saints' Deonte Harty Could Miss Significant Time

The New Orleans Saints might have lost receiver Deonte Harty (toe) for the rest of the season, according to NFL Media. Though Harty is expected to seek a second opinion, should the current diagnoses stand, Harty could end up missing months or perhaps the entire season. The Saints are coming off a Week 5 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Ravens' Marcus Williams Will Miss Significant Time, But Avoids Season-Long Shutdown

The Baltimore Ravens will be without star safety Marcus Williams for some time following the news that the standout defender dislocated his wrist during the Raven's 19-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5, according to NFL Media. Williams was in his first season with the team after spending the first four seasons of his career in New Orleans.

Rashaad Penny Could Undergo Surgery

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny fractured his fibula on Sunday, according to NFL Media. The injury could mean the end of Penny's season, especially should he choose to undergo surgery to help the injury heal. Rookie running back Kenneth Walker III will likely step in for the injured star.

Falcons Trade LB Deion Jones to Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns made a trade with the Atlanta Falcons Sunday night, acquiring linebacker Deion Jones in exchange for late-round draft considerations, NFL Media reported.

The move fills a need at linebacker for the Browns, who lost starter Anthony Walker Jr. to a season-ending injury in Week 3. Jacob Phillips took Walker's place in Week 4 alongside starter Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Sione Takitaki has also seen time as a starting linebacker for Cleveland this season, and he and Phillips will be competing with Jones for playing time upon the latter's return from injured reserve.

"This is a win for both teams," said T.J. McCreight, former NFL player personnel director for the Eagles and current analyst for The 33rd Team. "The Falcons get a pick,  which is what they were looking for, and the Browns get insurance at the position."

Jones began this season, his seventh with Atlanta, on injured reserve, and has not taken the field for the Falcons this season. He was the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason but began the year with the team when a trade could not be found, and the Falcons elected not to release him.

In his six years with Atlanta, Jones has been a starter at inside linebacker, making one Pro Bowl and finishing with at least 106 tackles in the five years he has played at least 15 games. However, with the offseason signing of Rahsaan Evans and the drafting of Troy Anderson in the second round, Jones' spot at the top of the depth chart was less assured than before, leading to the team exploring a trade for him.
