Bears Cut Dazz Newsome

Dazz Newsome

The Chicago Bears released wide receiver Dazz Newsome this morning as part of its roster cut-down, according to a report by Bears beat reporter Brad Biggs.

The former North Carolina receiver came to Chicago in 2021 after being drafted in the sixth round. Under the Matt Nagy coaching staff that drafted him, he never evolved past a special teams role. Under new head coach Matt Eberflus, and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, it was thought that the Bears may have needed him to step up into the passing attack. The team is already extremely thin at receiving help for second-year passer Justin Fields.

Newsome was also cut by the Chicago Bears in 2021. He eventually signed to the team's practice squad before being activated in week 15.
