Now that the Cowboys have taken care of quarterback Dak Prescott, what does that mean for the future of two other young superstar QBs — Josh Allen in Buffalo and Lamar Jackson in Baltimore?
“Every deal affects every other deal, and it always has,” said former Detroit Lions team president Tom Lewand. Do the Bills and Ravens use the franchise tag on their quarterbacks and hold off on new deals, the way Dallas did with Prescott? On the one hand, that could become a very expensive proposition. On the other hand, do they rush to do extensions — like the Eagles did with Carson Wentz and the Rams did with Jared Goff? Both of those moves, in retrospect, did not pay off.
Lewand and former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum recently had this lengthy discussion on what is certainly a tricky issue.
