Mental

Is he instinctual? Does he play with urgency?

Limited instincts, rarely able to work himself free when blocking upfront has broken down. Limited motor/ effort, no second/third efforts to push for extra yards, will go to the floor on contact. Deficient toughness, shies away from contact, ducks in preparation for hits, shows no enjoyment in the physical part of the game.

Athleticism

Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Average overall athletic ability, with adequate explosiveness, most dangerous asset is his above the line second-level speed converting well-blocked runs into significant gains. Average COD, can execute some stop/start cuts such as jukes effectively but isn’t naturally nimble or twitchy on his feet. Average body control and adequate bend/flexibility, in the open field can bend around the corner/ adjust to stay in bounds. Deficient play strength, lacks the size, power, toughness and motor to win many, if any, NFL physical contests.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Average ball security, 4 fumbles across his college career. Adequate path discipline, fairly patient for blocks to setup in the IZ/OZ heavy Iowa Offense. Adequate Outside Run Ability, will be most effective on OZ due to adequate burst and above the line speed to get good returns when blocked well. Limited inside run performance, must be blocked up superbly for him to use his adequate burst to generate yards, as has limited ability to create on his own in-between the tackles and deficient play strength. Average ability to create on his own and MYM, has an average juke move to MYM in-between the tackles but in open space will rely on his above the line speed and adequate flexibility to evade defensive pursuit. Limited finisher in the open field, isn’t powerful at all so once in contact won’t break free and gain yards. Adequate receiving ability, has the COD to win on more routes like out or swing. Adequate hands, consistent soft hands. Average Pass Pro, above the line lateral agility to initially mirror, and average UOH placement and punching power, is limited by processing/pickup, toughness and the application of effort, shows limited hustle and often will just throw a shoulder at the defender doing little to interfere with the rush.
