He displayed above the line competitiveness, consistently giving effort through all four quarters despite the score (v Alabama). He displayed above the line instincts by being able to diagnose pass vs run quickly. He showed above the line eye discipline, and gap integrity in the run game. Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

He has a refined skill set that won't need too much developing. Wins as a pass rusher with speed to power, has an adequate get off, and uses his hands to displace the OL hands with clubs/swipes. Can convert speed to power - utilizes heavy hands, adequate upper body strength, and above the line hand placement/arm extension to push the pocket (v Alabama RT Chris Owens). Shows above the line eye discipline to locate the ball. Utilizes his length well in the run game, displaying the ability to lockout and control the block with good hand use to disengage OL at POA. Liked his play temperament. Shows above the line competitiveness and mental toughness (v Alabama). He's going to need to improve play strength, which will allow him to anchor more consistently and become more effective as a power rusher.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
Myjai Sanders is a SR at the University of Cincinnati, who has started every game since 2019. Sanders earned All-AAC First Team honors in both 2020 and 2021. He was a participant in this year's Senior Bowl, and participated in the Combine. He lost close to 20 pounds from the Senior Bowl to the Combine (sickness). He weighed in at 247 at his pro day. Sanders is an adequate athlete who plays with above the line instincts and an above the line motor. He is going to need to add some weight if he is going to be an every down guy in the future. He fits best as a weakside 4-3 DE that will allow him to win with effort on backside of plays and use his speed to power to get to the QB. His instincts, motor, and refined hand usage projects him as an adequate rotational player in year one with starting upside down the line.
