Build

Does he have prototype size? What is body type? What is growth potential?

Mental

Is he instinctual? Does he play with urgency?

Limited instincts, slow/sluggish to identify defenders as a runner, slow to get his head around in the pass game which leads to passes bouncing off his hands/frame because he wasn't ready. Average motor/effort, legs aren't filled with energy on contact, even on his often limited snaps. Average toughness, will enter contact with defenders straight-up, but doesn’t seem to relish or come alive through it.

Athleticism

Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Limited overall athletic ability, with limited explosiveness and poor twitch, lacks true burst/suddenness, takes a good while to build energy and speed. Limited speed, takes five+ steps to get up to speed and once there, misses the adequate speed to beat defenders in the open field. Limited COD, with Poor body control and bend/flexibility, looks uncomfortable as he’s running/ changing direction, legs crossover messily and they'll tangle when changing direction causing loss of balance. Average play strength, doesn’t land much impact on finishing runs, won't lose ground through the tackle but won't gain much either.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Adequate ball security, only 1 fumble across his college career. Average path discipline, lacks adequate speed/ explosion and causes him to bend off outside paths or just completely cutback when his initial edge blocks fail. Limited inside run performance, has large size/frame and doesn't sneak through interior gaps, plays with average play strength and does not generate much forward momentum through contact. Limited outside run ability, limited AA restricts his ability to really stretch the defense, has an average stiff arm that does give him some means of continuing/ gain yards on stretch/toss runs. Poor finisher in the open field and MYM ability, not a threat in the open field due to lack of agile moves, speed and power to break tackles. Adequate receiving ability, plucks the ball nicely from around his frame and puts the ball away securely as he turns up field, should be a factor on swing/angle/out routes. Poor Pass Pro, limited lateral agility and poor UOH, over relies on throwing a shoulder into the defender and hoping that will suffice in interrupting the rush.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
Kevin Harris is a Junior from South Carolina who has featured in 28 career games. Three-star RB prospect, No. 702 nationally in 2019, according to 247 Sports. Eased into action at South Carolina with just 21 carries and 179 yards as a true freshman. Stepped-up as a Sophomore delivering an impressive 2020 season, where he led the SEC in rush yards per game (113.8) and was named first-team All-SEC by the Associated Press. In 2021, was hampered by back and ankle injuries so saw production fall to 659 yards off 152 carries. Kevin Harris likely projects as a practice-squad/roster bubble player in the NFL for 2022. It remains to be seen how much the injuries impacted his 2021 performance, and which player NFL teams will ultimately be getting: the 2021 version or the productive 2020 player? If he can develop his play strength/ instincts and regain his health, he may earn playing time on interior runs to compliment his already interesting capabilities as a receiver.
