Athleticism

Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Above the line straight line explosiveness with adequate speed to challenge linebackers and safeties downfield. Adequate body control in mid-air on catches. Above the line flexibility and bend. Change of direction is adequate for the position, as his frame does him no favors. Play strength is above the line, as he shows the capability to bury heavier linebackers and linemen.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Adequate route running, but not the most diverse routes. Release is above the line in large part due to his explosive quickness off the line but also because of his ability to hide a chip and release effectively. Ball skills are above the line with strong hands to fight through the catch point. Adequate ball carrier ability who fights through contact but rarely makes tacklers miss. Blocking is adequate as he extends well but can struggle when engaged. Strike is above the line. He's at his best when he can strike and use momentum into his target. Play temperament is adequate. Reliability is above the line and he is extremely consistent.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
Redshirt Senior who started 36 of 47 career games and each one from his sophomore year on. Father played football at Nebraska and brother played for Wisconsin from 2013-2017. 2020 John Mackey Award Semifinalist. Valuable and consistent in all four of his years at Wisconsin. Still needs further development but can contribute immediately on all three downs. Traditional inline TE, rarely plays in the slot. Should have a floor as a reliable pass catcher and capable blocker. Extremely comfortable in motion and in different alignments. Day one contributor as TE2 at minimum with starter ceiling.
