Build

Does he have prototype size? What is body type? What is growth potential?

Average size and length. Not an imposing frame with a particularly narrow midsection. Durable in terms of playing in games but played most of 2020 injured.

Mental

Is he instinctual? Does he play with urgency?

Tough player in his play style, but best show of toughness was playing through injury for the majority of the 2020 season. Instincts were at an extremely high level understanding and reacting within their triple option offense, but concern over how that will translate holds him to simply adequate. Above the line motor, never quitting on a play and constantly reaching the second level in blocks.

Athleticism

Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Explosiveness and speed are above the line for the TE position, best showed by his 99 yard TD vs Arkansas State. Body Control is above the line as well. Flexibility is adequate. Change of direction is above the line and flashes both in routes and with the ball in his hands. Play strength is simply adequate, understandable given his frame.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Adequate route runner with inconsistent sharpness but flashes of outstanding potential. Release is above the line as he uses his explosive burst and quickness well. Ball skills are above the line as well, as he has sure hands and a sizeable catch radius, showing the ability to elevate for grabs. Also above the line ball carrier ability; quite shifty for the position. Blocking is above the line, especially in space where he's at his best, but his strike is simply adequate and he doesn't play exceptionally violent, though he can at times. Adequate reliability with some game-to-game inconsistency issues.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
True senior with 42 starts. 2019 All-Sun Belt third team and 2020 and 2021 All-Sun Belt first team. 2021 John Mackey Award semifinalist. Named honorable mention or second team for multiple All-American teams. Versatile player who mostly lines up inline but is also capable from the slot or wide. Good receiver and capable blocker who can be a three down starting TE. Scheme adjustment will have an effect coming from a triple option system but receiving skills will certainly translate.
