Evan Neal is a refined pass blocker with outstanding footwork and hand fighting on the edge. He has shown the ability to readjust against counter moves with power steps down inside. He understands how to use his length to bubble rushers. Evan Neal showed refined hand fighting in pass protection. He resets his hands to dominate the chest of rushers and take way separation of rushers on blocks. When run blocking, Evan Neal has the hand strike and accuracy to clamp onto defenders. His foot drive is strong at first but he ends up with a narrow base most times. He struggles against push/pull moves when defenders disengage due to his knee bend causing him to lean forward with his upper body. Evan Neal's second level ability is above the line when he is moving in linear paths. He has the ability to find work on screens and engage LB's down field.

Evan Neal projects as starting left tackle in his rookie year with the potential to become a pro bowl caliber player. His unique combination of size, length and athleticism give him the tools to develop into a book-end left tackle in the NFL. His skill set would best work in a zone blocking run scheme which would allow him to use his play strength more effectively. Evan Neal is an outstanding pass blocker who needs to work on his run blocking technique and leverage in order to get to most out of his physical traits.
