Does he have prototype size? What is body type? What is growth potential?

Outstanding size in both height and weight. Length is above the line and he makes good use of it. Frame is adequate. High cut and lanky but strong upper body.

Mental

Is he instinctual? Does he play with urgency?

Adequate toughness, as he fights through contact well as a pass-catcher but less so in blocks. Instincts are adequate as he has solid feel for coverages to find the weak spot. Effort is adequate as he is inconsistent with flashes.

Athleticism

Does he have the athletic traits you want?

Explosiveness is adequate with average speed. Body Control is above the line, as he shows an ability to twist and adjust for catches. Flexibility is average, as is play strength. He plays strongly through the ball as a receiver but not so strongly in blocks. Change of direction is adequate. Can struggle to cut quickly and relies more on boxing out defenders.

Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Route running and release are adequate. Not explosive enough in cuts or speedy enough to separate consistently but shows flashes. Better against zone than man, though he can box out a man coverage man nicely. Ball skills are above the line, as his contested catch ability is notable and makes him a solid red zone target. Has some concentration drops that need fixing, which would make this an outstanding skill for him. Ball carrier ability is simply average due to athleticism. Blocking is average, with limited strike and average play temperament. In space, Kolar can block decently, but he struggles with technique at and around the line of scrimmage. Reliability is adequate, as he shows up in key spots but has some drop concerns.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
Redshirt senior who started 29 out of 49 games over 4 years. 2021 William V Campbell Trophy Winner and CoSIDA Academic Football Player of the Year. 2019 and 2020 AP All-American 3rd Team. 2020 and 2021 Mackey Award Finalist. Former 3-star prospect and top-50 TE prospect in recruiting. Compiled a 3.99 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. Brother played QB at Oklahoma State. True F TE with versatility. Much better receiver than blocker. Not athletic, but large and can use his size to his advantage. Contested catch guy and red zone weapon. Immediate contributor as a receiving TE but not ready to be in a heavy blocking scheme at this point. Potential TE2 and future starter but needs the right scheme fit.
