Technical

Does he have a refined skill set? Is he a projection or is his game developed enough to contribute early?

Flashes a good initial punch, but is often inconsistent with his timing and has wide hands at contact which puts him at a disadvantage. Will sometimes rely on his size rather than a punch in the run game. Demonstrates adequate ability to generate push in the run game and collapse the edge. Can struggle to reach block and seal the edge against more athletic opponents. Agile defenders in the second level make it hard for him to latch on and control them, but he can still be effective at walling them off with his frame. As a pass blocker he showcases controlled sets with a wide base and good footwork. Will give some ground against power rushers, but has adequate anchor to stifle the rush before fully collapsing the pocket. His punch inconsistency can allow defenders to get hands into his chest and force him to fight to regain control. Straight speed rushers from a wide technique can beat him due to his deficiencies getting hands on. Speed-to-counter combos from dynamic edge rushers also give him trouble, but he can handle inside moves from less speed oriented rushers well. He generally handles stunts well, but he will occasionally get crossed up by the initial crosser. Displays adequate overall range and pulling ability in his limited reps doing so.

Summary

What role does he play? What is his initial projection?
After redshirting his freshman year, Abraham Lucas played in and started all 42 possible games for Washington State prior to opting out of the 2021 bowl game. Played almost exclusively at right tackle, with a negligible number of snaps at guard over four years. Was a Freshman All-American in 2018, Second Team All-Conference three three times, and finished his career with a First Team All-Conference season in 2021. Projects as a backup right tackle at the next level, and has the potential to develop into a low end starter with improved hand use and explosiveness.
