Daily Fantasy Week 7: Love it, Need it, Hate it, Lottery Picks
Welcome back to the Daily Fantasy: Love it, Need it, Hate it, Lottery Picks article for Week 7 of the NFL season. Week 7 is a difficult one, as many of our high-caliber offenses have byes this week. Buffalo, Dallas, Minnesota, and Los Angeles all have potent offenses, and all will be watching Sunday's action from their couches. Love It
Players in the “Love it” section are guys that we are excited to play in any format, regardless of the ownership that they may garner that week.
Davante Adams ($9,000 DraftKings, $9,000 FanDuel)
Davante Adams boasts the highest target share in the league, as he leads the way with a monstrous 35,5% of the Packers' passing targets. He had a down week last week, as he only saw five targets against the Chicago Bears. However, this isn't worrisome in our opinion. The Bears play at an extremely slow pace, and their defense is a run-funnel. People may be scared to roster him due to last week's performance, which could make this week the perfect time to buy back into Adams. However, he is projecting to see a fair amount of ownership on each site.
Adams matches up with the Washington defense this week, who looked like one of the top units in the league coming into the year. However, that hasn't been the case so far. They've given up the most points in the league, averaging 31 points against per game. Washington is also inviting teams to pass the ball, as they rank 12th against the run and only 28th against the pass. Adams should see more touchdown numbers soon, as he only has two on the year despite seeing 1/3 of the Packers' red-zone targets. Adams is an awesome play in all formats this week.
Need It
This section will contain guys who we believe are necessary when you are constructing a lineup for cash games. They are still viable in tournaments, but they aren’t necessary. We still like them as plays, but these guys may come with higher ownership, which could provide merit to fading them and going another route.
Darrell Henderson ($6,600 DraftKings, $8,000 FanDuel)
Darrell Henderson is shaping up to be one of the highest-owned players on the main slate this weekend. There is a slight worry that Sony Michel will eat into his playing time, but that hasn't been the case so far. Henderson has seen at least 2/3 of the snaps in every game where he's been healthy, and he's gone above 82% of snaps three times. He has averaged 19.4 opportunities per game, and he should see an ample amount this Sunday against Detroit.
The Lions are allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs, and they've given up 12 total touchdowns to opposing backs through six games. The Rams have a team total of over 30 points, and it's hard to see them not succeeding on offense this weekend. Henderson should see hefty ownership, making him a very appealing target in cash games. However, the high ownership could warrant a fade in tournaments. It's unlikely that the Rams' offense falls flat, but it is possible for them to go off without Henderson having an amazing day.
Hate it
Players in the “Hate it” section are guys that we do not want to roster that week in DFS for a number of reasons. They may have a bad matchup, they may be projecting to have too much ownership, they may be too expensive, or it could be a combination of the three.
Cordarrelle Patterson ($6,300 DraftKings, $8,000 FanDuel)
Cordarrelle Patterson has actually had a fairly impressive fantasy season thus far. He has posted above 18 DraftKings points in three of five games and is averaging 20.4 DraftKings points per game. He has become a staple in the Falcons' passing game and has averaged 8.2 carries per game. The matchup is nothing to be afraid of this week, as Miami has been one of the worst teams in football all year.
The reason we're so low on Patterson this week is his playing time. He has topped 42% of snaps just once all season, albeit being last week where he saw 59% of snaps. He hasn't really seen the red zone rushing work for Atlanta, and he's priced as if his hyper-efficiency is sustainable. With where Patterson is priced on each site, we'll gladly look at other options.
Lottery Picks
The Lottery Picks section contains players who we think have the upside to be in tournament-winning lineups. As well as having the ceiling to win tournaments, these players also won’t come with too much ownership
Mike Evans ($6,500 DraftKings, $7,100 FanDuel)
With Antonio Brown ruled out of Sunday's matchup against Chicago, Mike Evans becomes an awesome tournament target this weekend. Rob Gronkowski is also missing this game, leaving the Bucs with Chris Godwin and Evans as their downfield targets. The Bears invite teams to run on them, which could be a little bit worrisome. However, Tampa has thrown the ball at least 40 times in five of their six games, and that will most likely continue this week.
Godwin has led the team in red-zone targets, but with Gronk and Brown out for this contest, there should be more than enough to go around for Evans as well. Evans has been a great downfield threat, and should have ample opportunities to reach the end zone against this Bears' defense. Evans isn't projecting to be that highly owned on either site as of now, and if it stays that way, he is one of our favorite tournament options on the weekend.
