How the Detroit Lions Stumped the Arizona Cardinals

Detroit Lions

In week 15 the Detroit Lions stumped the Arizona Cardinals in a matchup many saw going a different way. The Lions entered the matchup with one win versus the Cardinals 10. Despite that, Detroit controlled this game in every facet from start to finish.

The Breakdown

Jared Goff played one of the best games of his 2021 campaign when he passed for 216 yards and three touchdowns. Impressively, he would also complete 21 of his 26 passes while also having no turnovers. Also impressive, the emergence of rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown continued with him racking up 90 yards and finding the endzone again. Sprinkle on the Detroit Lions defense holding the Cardinals to under 400 total yards of offense and you have a complete game.

When it comes to the Cardinals, Kyler Murray and company definitely need to figure things out as they head towards the playoffs. Murray struggled and completed just 56% of his passes and had just one touchdown. Sadly, he wasn’t a threat on the ground either as he had just three rushing yards against the Lions' defense. The Cardinals need Murray to keep this offense rolling if it is going to take the next step this year.

This result begs the question though, was it a great day for the Detroit Lions, or was it just a bad day for the Arizona Cardinals? The 33rd Team’s contributor Luke Carr breaks down just that. What impressed Carr the most in this game was the Lions offense. What he saw from the Detroit offense may be enough to have them clicking heading into the end of the season, maybe into 2022.

Carr does a tremendous job in his breakdown series for The 33rd Team. Be sure to check this one out and others the team has put together. All of them can be found on The 33rd Team’s YouTube page with plenty more to come.
