NFL Offseason Fixer-Uppers: Three Ways to Fix Giants in 2023
NFL Analysis 3/1/23
In an ongoing offseason series, experts from The 33rd Team offer three things each team can do to improve in 2023.
AFC: BAL | BUF | CIN | CLE | HOU | IND | JAX | KC |LAC | LV | MIA | NE | NYJ | PIT | TEN
NFC: ATL | CAR | DAL | DET | GB | LAR | MIN | PHI | SEA | SF | TB
Here is my list of three things that would improve the New York Giants:
3 Ways to Fix the Giants
1. Sign QB Daniel Jones
The team declined his fifth-year option, and now Daniel Jones and the Giants are a little at odds with what a new contract should look like. They need to make sure to lock this guy in. We saw the progression. We saw the camaraderie and the relationship being formed with head coach Brian Daboll. If you don't have a quarterback in this league, you can't win.

2. Address the Offensive Line
This interior line, center, right guard, left guard, you have got to address it. They have an aging center (Jon Feliciano) who played well at the end of the season, but who they have to find a way to replace. Right guard (Mark Glowinski), you also have to find somebody there.
The most disappointing position was left guard. They went into the season thinking Shane Lemieux was going to be their starter, then Ben Bredeson was going to be the starter, and Nick Gates ended up being the full-time starter. That is not what you want when you are going up against some of these elite defensive tackles.
The only way you can thrive in the NFL is if you can protect your quarterback, and he can get the ball to the playmakers.
3. Find a No. 1 Receiver
You can look at the league's top teams. Patrick Mahomes has Travis Kelce in Kansas City. You have the Buffalo Bills with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. You have Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase in Cincinnati. Look at what Tyreek Hill was able to do in Miami with Tua Tagavailoa, when the latter was healthy.
You have to establish a WR1. This past season, Darius Slayton and Richie James Jr., among others, stepped up. But when your quarterback drops back, he has to know, "This is my guy, I'm going to him, he's gonna get open and make a play for me."
