Denver Broncos NFL Draft Grades 2023: Marvin Mims a Major Reach

Denver Broncos Draft Grades

The 2023 NFL Draft is complete and the Denver Broncos made a total of five picks.

After finishing in last place in the AFC West in 2022 after coming into the season with high expectations, they'll hope their draft picks help turn around a team hoping to keep pace in an extremely tough division.

The 33rd Team Scouting Dept. graded every pick in this year’s draft, here’s how the Broncos fared:

Dallas Cowboys 2023 NFL Draft Grades

63. Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Oklahoma

Marvin Mims Jr. (scouting report) does not have a top-level trait to hang his hat on. He lacks size and needs to add strength. He has a tight lower body, and his play speed is average. He is a better tester than player, but he does have good hands and overall ball skills.

Grade: D

67. Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas

Drew Sanders (scouting report) brings length and versatility to the Denver Broncos’ defense. He is a run-and-chase off-ball linebacker who flashes effectiveness rushing off the edge.

Grade: B

83. Riley Moss, CB, Iowa

Riley Moss (scouting report) is a good player, but giving up a third-round pick in 2024 to come up to get him is rich. Moss is athletic, instinctive and productive. He can stay in phase vertically and track the ball. He doesn’t have ideal length, and he may lose some battles at the catch point

Grade: B-

183. J.L. Skinner, DS, Boise State

J.L. Skinner (scouting report) has rare size and above-average movement skills, but his lack of instincts and inconsistent effort leave you wanting more from him. He has comparable size and athleticism to Justin Simmons, so he could be a good mentor for Skinner.

Grade: B-

257. Alex Forsyth, OC, Oregon

Alex Forsyth has good size and a solid build for the position but only average overall athleticism and strength. He struggles to sustain blocks due to his average strength and has bad hand-placement habits that will let defenders get inside on his chest. He must improve his strength and quickness to be a productive NFL lineman.

Grade: C+
